ProTek Devices today introduced a new ultra-low capacitance steering diode/transient voltage suppressor array (TVS array). The new products mainly provide circuit protection for Gigabit Ethernet applications, smart phones, and graphics card interfaces. The new PAZC099 capacitor is ultra low, 0.9pF. The PAZC099 requires a rated voltage of 5.0 V for applications with a maximum pulse power of 100 watts per line (8/20 microseconds). The product also provides ideal circuit protection for USB 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 applications, digital video interfaces and other portable electronics. The PAZC099 provides surge suppression and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection greater than 25 kV for these high-speed data line applications. The product uses eight ultra-low capacitance steering diodes for four dedicated data lines or transmission lines.
PAZC099 also has a TVS diode for the power bus. The product meets or exceeds several International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards: 15kV for air discharge, 8kV for contact discharge, 6105-4-4 for electric fast transients: 40A, 5/50 ns, and 61000-4-5 surge protection. In addition, PAZC099 also features low clamping voltage, RoHS (Restriction of the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products) and REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals) standards. The device is available in a small SOT-23-6 package, minimizing lead inductance and preventing voltage overshoot in the presence of high ESD currents. ProTek Devices recommends installing the PAZC099 on a printed circuit board near the connector. PAZC099 only weighs about 16 mg. Other major mechanical characteristics include lead-free nickel-palladium-gold plating and UL 94V-0 flammability rating. The reflow temperature (Ni-Pd-Au: Ni/Pd/Au, 96/3.5/0.5) is 260 to 270 degrees Celsius. Working and storage temperatures are -55 to 150 degrees Celsius.
