Littelfuse , Inc., a global leader in circuit protection, today introduced the 40A series of standard high temperature Silicon Controlled Rectifier (SCR) thyristors for use in rectifier and phase control applications such as voltage regulators, heating and motor speed control. . The new SJxx40x series is Littelfuse 's first SCR thyristor capable of handling 600V, 40Arms and junction temperatures up to 150°C.

The SJxx40x series is designed to avoid overheating and thermal runaway problems caused by SCR's limited cooling capacity or occasional overload conditions. It can be triggered by a current of a few milliamps below 1.5V.
Typical applications for the SJxx40x series of SCR thyristors include rectifiers for a variety of end uses, including AC solid state switches, industrial power tools, sports equipment, white goods, and commercial appliances.

The SJxx40x series of SCR thyristors offer the following key advantages:

• Available in TO-220AB and TO-263 packages to support flexible mounting options and simplify device design.
• Up to 40Arms of on-state current (IT) allows the SJxx40X to handle higher load currents.
• Higher rated voltages change over time (dv/dt), allowing the SJxx40X to withstand the higher line noise and surges common in commercial AC power lines.
Availability
